Life's a Blast My first trip to Israel and Palestine was an intuitive leap. Nothing turned out as planned. In this state of confusion, I started photographing the everyday conflict and the people living in it.
Life's a Blast is a project from Israel and Palestine that I photographed from 2008 to 2010. I worked randomly, meeting people of all sorts, letting one thing lead to another. I traveled to all the places I read or heard about. Choosing to balance my work by meeting the opponents to those I randomly came across. And slowly building my own picture of the situation in the region.
Cause of Death: Woman One in three women around the world is subjected to physical, sexual or some other form of violence during her lifetime. Rape and violence in the home are a greater risk factor to women aged 15-44, than cancer, road traffic accidents, war and malaria combined.
Cause of Death: Woman is an investigative report on violence against women. Between 2010 and 2012 I examined the situation in ten countries together with reporters Karin Alfredsson and Kerstin Weigl. The complete result of our work can be seen at www.causeofdeathwoman.com
Breezy Point after Sandy The waters on both sides rose and merged together inundating the peninsula. Entire houses were lifted off their foundations, shifted and sometimes crashed into a neighbors property. The rare few who defied the evacuation order tell stories of swimming or surfing from their homes to the nearest safe spot. In one house a fire broke out, and since the fire men weren't able to get there it spread and did not cease until 111 houses were completely depleted.
